APPLICATION OF BAND RATIOS TO LANDSAT THEMATIC MAPPER DIGITAL DATA (TM) AND THEIR ROLE FOR DISCRIMINATING LAND COVERS1
Abstract
Penelitian ini menekankan pada penilaian operasi pembagian (ratio) antar band-band dari data digital yang dihimpun oleh Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) untuk alat pemisah penutupan lahan dalam kegiatan explorasi rupa bumi beserta tingkat ketelitian hasilnya. Enam band data Landsat TM dari penutupan lahan di the Bemebey Center dan sekitamya, Ohio Tenggara, USA, telah dianalisa dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak the IBM-PCIPS yang dijalankan pada komputer IBM-PC. Berdasarkan nilai index penumpang tindihan penutupan lahan dan batasan selang nilai kecemerlangan yang ada pada setiap band, operasi band 5/2 merupakan operasi terbaik yang mampu menampakkan pemisahan sungai-sungai dari penutupan lahan yang lainnya, serta operasi band 5/3 merupakan operasi terbaik untuk memisahkan penampakan danau dari penutupan lahan lainnya. Obyek-obyek penutupan lahan lainnya tidak dapat dipisahkan dengan menggunakan ratio antar band-band.
